It is also a really important opportunity for the younger dancers to see and be inspired by what “lies ahead” watching their older counterparts on stage, and to show their family how much they have achieved this year.
    • Dancing is a team sport, just like netball or football, so it is key for the success of the team that everyone makes all the practices, and is there for every performance. If your child is unable to commit to this then please let us know.
    • Please check each of the tabs below for all the information, categorised for your convenience. Also check out our News Page  “Dates to Remember” to see all the dates in calendar format.

Costumes Information, Rehearsal /Show Schedules & Notes

Costumes Information, Rehearsal /Show Schedules & Notes

Costume information:

  • Costumes are provided by, & are the property of, L.O.D.
  • Costume list. Please click on the links below for the costume Act, listed for each act.

Act 1 Costume List

Act 2 Costume List

Act 3 Costume List

All costumes, including uniform will be left in the students boxes ready to be transported to the theatre after this rehearsal.  Please make sure any uniform items are washed prior to Sunday 2 December rehearsal & that all students bring a change of clothes to leave Sunday’s rehearsal in.  Students may wear mufti clothing for next week’s classes if their uniform is part of their costume.

  • Costume Transportation: All costumes are transported to the theatre by backstage helpers and remain there for the duration of the show. They are collected by backstage helpers after the final show and do not go home with students ( with the exception of student’s own gear).
  • Studio Dress Rehearsal is very important so we can assess:
    • how well students quick changes for multiple items will work;
    • whether or not the costumes need any further sewing alterations
    • if any costumes need any further development
    • if any costumes are not going to work effectively in the way they need to.

For these reasons, it is important your child attends the rehearsal, and has the full costume (including their hair) as outlined in the costume list.  There may be changes that need to be made after Sunday, depending on the success for the rehearsal – anyone who would be affected will be notified prior to the show.

  • Costume Boxes:  Students require a box to keep all their costume items in ( e.g hair clips, dance shoes etc). Please deliver to the Studio the week beginning 27 November and must be there by Sunday 3 December. This needs to be:
    •  Named (If it is decorated please leave space for a label to go on the end.
    • Shoe Box Size for students doing one or two items
    • Slightly  bigger for student doing 3 or more items.
    • All Boxes must have a lid
    • Left at the Studio to be transported to the Theatre.
    • Taken home after the last performance with own belongings only inside. Leave all costume items behind (you don’t need to wash these).

Lost Property: Please remind your child to take everything that is theirs home after the last performance. Any items left behind after the last show they will be bagged up and returned to the studio where you will be able to collect them during our January Summer School (7-18 Jan). Anything not collected after this pointe will be donated to charity.

Rehearsal Information & Schedules/ Show Schedules:

  • Studio Rehearsals at L.O.D Studios:
    • Sunday 25 November is a full Studio rehearsal in normal dance gear.
    • Sunday 2 December Dress Rehearsal (deadline date for costume box – see above)
    • Both rehearsals have the same timetable – please see schedules below

Rehearsal & Performance schedules and timetables: The full list of schedules are all now below.  Click on the link for each day.

Please remember:

  • Finish Times Indicative Only: As you can appreciate with so many variables involved in the rehearsal process, finish times are indicative only. Delays can occur, often beyond our control, so we ask for your patience. On Thursday, you are welcome to sit in the auditorium to watch the rehearsals until your child is finished as collection will be from there. The dress rehearsal is a full show run not open to the public.  If tickets sell out to the shows, we may open the Dress Rehearsal for ticket purchases.
  • Parent Volunteers: Our parent volunteers are not responsible for any timing issues so any concerns regarding this should be directed to Marina or Natalie. We are very aware of how tiring the show is on the younger children and do all that we can to allow them to leave rehearsals as promptly as possible.
  • Only Authorised helpers are allowed entry back stage.
Backstage Access & Sign In/Sign Out Process

Backstage Access, Helpers & Sign in/Sign out Process

• Backstage Access: For the safety of all and the smooth running behind stage only authorised dressing room helpers will be allowed backstage during rehearsals and shows.

• Backstage Helpers: Over the weekend some parent help is needed backstage in the dressing rooms, with the sign in/out of students and ushers for each performance. Information about what these jobs entail & the time required can be found here: What Help is Needed 2018

Please click on this link to sign up for help here or a form will also be up the Studio.  You are also welcome to email our Backstage co-ordinators directly with any questions.  Bridgit: bridgit.hawkins@nzregen.co.nz or Nicole nmtaylor553@gmail.com

• Sewing Helpers: We normally organise a sewing bee at our Sunday rehearsals for costume sewing and alterations.  However this year as we are revisiting old dances we already have most of the costumes. We may still require hand sewing or alterations/adjustments  so please let us know if you can help.  We also have an ironing board and iron at the Studio and will have any necessary cottons that are needed.

Sign in/Sign out of Dancers: To ensure we can keep track of all the students we require them to be signed in and out of all rehearsals and performances at the Production venue.  There will be sign in/out tables set up in the foyer which will have student lists in alphabetical order.  Upon arrival, students must be signed in to go backstage/enter the auditorium, and must be signed out when collected after their performance. If students are using their dancer comp ticket, they won’t need to be signed out until the end of the show.  If you have bought a ticket for them to sit with you, they will need to be signed out at the end of the act they have performed in and taken back into the auditorium with you.

•Return time for evening performances: There are two performances on both days this year. If you and your child are not watching the matinee you are free to leave when you collect your child as long as you return by the evening performance arrival time 5.00pm. All students must be at the theatre at least 1 hour before the evening show.

•Food: We advise that students have a substantial meal before their arrival times on Saturday & Sunday as there will be no time to eat between rehearsals and the matinee shows. For students who are watching a matinee we suggest they bring a ‘packed lunch’ to eat in between the shows as they will need to go straight backstage to prepare for the evening performance.

ONLY HEALTHY SNACKS & WATER are allowed backstage. NO EATING in costumes. NO Chewing Gum.

Venue Information & Helpful Hints

Venue Information & Helpful Hints

• There is a large free car parking area at this venue.
• There is a large enclosed foyer area in front on the theatre auditorium. This is accessible to other Te Whaea users.
• A Te Whaea employee is always on the premises for the time we are there.
• Organise car-pooling with fellow class members for drop off and pick-ups. We can put you in touch with parents.
• Organise care for younger siblings during rehearsal times – this definitely eases stress levels.
• Keep extra curricula activities to a minimum the weekend of the show so the dancers can have ‘full energy’ to enjoy their dance experience.

Please click here for the current show running order: Running Order 2018

Please note that this is subject to change and a final version will be loaded after the full Studio dress rehearsal to make sure all quick costume changes are workable.
